Tasting Notes - 1st flush Assam Hajua SFTGFOP1 N.503

Classification: 1st Flush Assam Hajua SFTGFOP1 - black tea
Origin: India, Assam, Hajua - located near Manas national park
Grade: First class, Superior – SFTGFOP 1
Leaf: Is dark-brown with beautiful golden tips, lightly twisted, releasing an aroma of chestnuts, clove and dark wood.
Infused leaf: Wet leaf is coppery-brown in the colour. Aroma of chestnuts, lemon and earth.

Liquor: Is reddish-brown with a golden hue edges. Beautifully balanced cup; complex, malty, sweet and leathery with a notes of green wood – cedar particularly. After taste is mildly astringent with lingering notes of vanilla and spiced cocoa.

About: In the far north east corner of India lies Assam and it's plantations scattered along the Brahmaputra River which starts in Tibet. The river valley receives more rainfall per annum than any other location on earth. Teas from here are known for their depth of flavour, heaviness and maltiness. This Assam tea is an Orthodox tea - which means “whole leaf”.
