Tasting Notes - 1st flush Darjeeling Balasun SFTGFOP 1

Classification: 1st flush Darjeeling Balasun SFTGFOP 1 – black tea

Cultivar: 51% China, 40% hybrid Assam and 9% Darjeeling quality clonal variety.

Origin: India, West Bengal, Darjeeling, Balasun tea Estate

Grade: Exceptional, Terrific

Leaf: Nicely twisted leaves with plenty of silver tips between dark green and golden leaves. Aroma of spices, wild blossoms and dry hay.

Infused leaf: Dark green and copper leaves with scent of freshly cut grass - zesty and sweet.

Liquor: Clear golden-amber liquor with a delicate aroma of wild flowers and fresh orange blossoms. Velvety, almost buttery texture gives the cup very round mouth-feel, leaving behind only a mellow dandelion astringency and lingering grapefruit after-taste.

 

 

About: The Balasun Tea estate – created in 1871 – spreads across rolling hills in altitude from 365 to 1375 meters above sea level with moderately gentle slope of north Kurseong Valley and Balasun river flowing at the bottom part of the garden. The estate is located near a tiny hamlet town of Sonada, one of the stations for the heritage Darjeeling Toy train.
