Tea Tasting diary – batch n.232

2) Our second choice was 1st Flush Darjeeling Risheehat SFTGFOP1 DJ 06/17 – organic

class on the package said: “exceptional/terrific”. We have never been much of a fans of Risheehat plantation, but we keep trying their teas each year. The class should have been exceptional but unfortunately we have evaluated it only as a good/lovely, but not incredible. Why? Look at our tasting notes:

Dry Leaves: Big and hairy, lightly twisted tri-coloured leaves with herbally, sweet aroma of mangoes.

Infused Leaves: Light, small and broken, pale green leaves along with copper stalks and leaves. Aroma peppery, herbally with spring bouquet of daffodils.

Liquor: Golden and crystal clear cup with intense floral bouquet – orchids, jasmine and sweet honey notes – honeysuckle. Astringency of dandelion stalks. The tea lacks of strength it was overly astringent and became cloudy when left aside for a bit.
