Yunnan teas are called “Dian Hong” which means “Yunnan Red”. Yunnan is considered to be the birthplace of tea. Wild tea trees as old as 1700 years can still be found in the tropical forests of Xishuangbanna. Yunnan has mountainous terrain with peaks soaring to 2000m and rich red soil which binds all minerals & organic matter.
This limited edition of Golden Pine Needle is hand-picked in middle of March. Song Zhen meaning "Pine Needle" is relatively new tea, just shy of 100 years in age. It gain the royal status in 20th century after becoming a favourite with the Queen of Britain.
Grown high in the mountainous region (1400 m altitude), without fertilisers or pesticides.
Skilfully processed by local artisans which let the buds wither longer (this enhance the fragrance) and oxidise slower (this tones down astringency in the liquor and doubles the concentration of flavour).

DRY LEAF: Long, slender & hairy golden buds with single dark leaf, releasing floral bouquet aroma of plums, honey & pine wood. The buds are very beautiful to look at and the floral, sweet and fruity fragrance is fantastic.
INFUSED LEAF: Infused bud & leaf is leathery matt and perfect in shape. Aroma of pine wood, black pepper & plums with a tiny hint of tobacco.
LIQUOR: Crystal clear amber cup with shimmering golden rim. Aroma of pine needles, sweet vanilla and forest honey rising from the cup. The mouth-feel is complex, very rich and malty. Notes of tart cherries, plums & pine wood is lingering on the palate. The finish has lingering notes of rich cocoa-vanilla & pepper. This is very elegant, well balanced and malty cup with no acidity and a very pleasant astringency.
